The Town

Weddington, NC

Developer

Mel Graham

Weddington is a serene suburb of Charlotte, NC, in the Northwest corner of Union County. Located just 15 minutes from metro Charlotte, this quaint town offers a suburban feel, while boasting some of the best schools in the country and just minutes from downtown shopping and dining. Enjoy small town living with “big city” amenities. There is something for everyone in picturesque Weddington.

In 1978, Charlotte native Melvin F. Graham founded Graham Enterprises, one of the Carolinas’ leading real estate development and investment companies. Currently, Graham serves as chairman and chief executive officer. Over the years Graham has been involved in all aspects of the design, planning, construction, marketing, and operations of numerous projects, primarily in the Carolinas, Virginia and Georgia.

Additionally, Graham Enterprises owns and operates golf courses, retail centers, office distribution centers, mini-storage facilities, and various other types of income-producing real estate. Graham’s hands-on experience and wide range of real work ethics, all help position Graham Enterprises for unprecedented success in the 21st century. Those close to Graham often comment on his passion and tireless efforts to enhance the communities and cities he works in, and the numerous evangelical Christian and charitable organizations he both serves and supports. Graham serves on the board of the Billy Graham Evangelical Association. Graham is the nephew of Billy Graham. Graham also serves on the board of Samaritan’s Purse, World Medical Missions, and Southern Evangelical Seminary.

Mel’s passion is real estate deals and development and he has been doing it since he was in high school. Mel owns golf courses in the Carolinas (World Tour Golf Links, Myrtle Beach, SC and The Club at Longview, Charlotte, NC) and he has developed and sold land in Charlotte and South Carolina to many homebuilders including Toll Brothers and Standard Pacific most recently.

The secret to Mel’s success is relying on common sense. “I’d rather have a thimble full of common sense than a truck load of book sense” – one of his grandfather’s favorite quotes has been his way of navigating the real estate development business. Raised in an environment where hard work meant getting the job done no matter how long it took and, where Sundays were for the Lord, he learned the basics that have kept him on track.

The History

The history of Longview dates back to the 1800’s when it was first known as The Longview Black Jack Farm. In 1953 Mel Graham’s father purchased the property in order to relocate the family dairy farm. In 2001, the dream of The Club at Longview was put into action. As Jack Nicklaus stood on this property, and looked at the gentle rolling hills with its pines and hardwoods, its creeks, ponds and nature preserves, he said, “It’s as if it was always meant to be the home of a great golf course.” Two years later, on October 20, 2003, The Club at Longview officially opened!

Golf

When a commitment is made to create the region’s finest golf community and to dedicate this community to excellence without compromise, who else would one turn but to Jack Nicklaus? More than just another golf course, Longview is a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, a designation that signifies his deep and abiding involvement in every design decision made here.

Challenging, yet not daunting, fun to play without being easy, the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course at Longview embodies the finest expression of a true master’s art. With its rolling hills, tree-lined fairways, elevation changes, and abundant water features, it is perhaps the most perfectly suited natural site for outstanding golf in the region.

In addition to the 18-holes of Signature Golf, we also offer generous practice areas located near the Clubhouse. With a full-service practice range, three separate putting and chipping surfaces, and on-site professional instruction, Longview provides ample room to enhance and develop your game. The Club at Longview also has TPI Certified Instructors on staff!
Whether you are interested in a cheese plate on the veranda or a full formal meal in the grand dining room, the Club at Longview is where you want to be.

Swimming

Summertime means poolside activities for the whole family at Longview. Between our zero-depth beach-style entry family pool with sprays and fountains, infant and toddler wading pool, adult pool with lap lanes, and jacuzzi tub, our aquatic center is the place that Longview members love to gather and enjoy the outdoors with ample space for all to enjoy. Our family-friendly pools offer full-service poolside dining.

Poolside at the Club is a great way to spend time with family. Summer days play host to family and adult themed pool parties throughout the season.

Open seven days a week, rain or shine, during pool season our aquatic center is “the place” for adults, teens and children to beat the heat during the summer months.
